On 30 March 2020 we held a meeting, via conference call, with representatives of the payments industry and colleagues from other authorities to discuss the progress being made on tackling authorised push payment (APP) scams.
The call was chaired by our Managing Director, Chris Hemsley.
Because of the importance of this work, we are publishing the speaker’s notes and accompanying documents from the meeting.
Why we are publishing this document
We want to see more done to reduce authorised push payment (APP) scams and protect victims. One of the key initiatives is the Contingent Reimbursement Model (CRM) Code and we are working with the industry, the Lending Standards Board and the Financial Ombudsman Service to understand how well it is working in the interests of consumers.
What this document contains
This document contains the speaker’s notes, the PowerPoint presentation used to illustrate the talking points of the call, and a summary of the call’s Q&A section.
Next steps
There is a real need to drive better outcomes for consumers and we will continue to play our role in the fight against APP fraud. We will work with industry to ensure that the options we have presented are thoroughly explored and, through collaboration, identify a workable solution to the concerns we have raised.
