Payment Systems Regulator welcomes appointment of first chair of New Payment System Operator

In response to the announcement made by the NPSO Hannah Nixon, Managing Director of the Payment Systems Regulator, said:

“I welcome Melanie Johnson’s appointment as the first chair of the New Payments Systems Operator (NPSO).  The selection of the chair is an important milestone towards the NPSO becoming fully operational.

“The NPSO will play a crucial role in delivering the generational change in UK payments that we are striving for.  I’m looking forward to working with Melanie, as the NPSO takes on responsibility for delivering various aspects of the Payment Strategy Forum’s strategy. Chief among those is the development of the New Payments Architecture and further work to support the PSR’s open access agenda.”

The appointment was made following an open and competitive selection process led by senior industry and consumer representatives.
